Scouts - Troop 76

Troop 76Troop 76 of Mystic, Connecticut helps the Mystic Flag Committee by setting up some 300 street flags plus raising the Mystic Liberty Pole's large ceremonial flag on Flag Day and other special events.

About Troop 76

Troop 76 of Mystic, CT meets every Wednesday evening from 7 pm-8:30 pm, September through June at St. Patrick Church located at 32 E. Main Street in downtown Mystic. This is a scout-run Troop which allows its members to learn leadership skills and put those skills to use while being supported in their efforts by the Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters, Committee and Parents.

Troop 76 currently has approximately 45 active scouts from many area schools including Stonington High School, Pawcatuck Middle School, Mystic Middle School, Fitch High School, Cutler Middle School, Wheeler High School, Wheeler Middle School, Sacred Heart and St. Bernard's School.

The Troop camps monthly, attends spring and fall District Camporees, the Klondike Derby and a week-long summer camp. The Troop-owned trailer is outfitted with patrol boxes for each of the 5 patrols which contain cooking and camping equipment to support the Troop's outdoor program. Troop members participate in a variety of community service projects throughout downtown Mystic St. Patrick's Day Parade. Scouts volunteer to help community organizations and also assist other Scouts with Eagle Scout projects.

Troop 76 completes several fundraisers annually including a food booth at the Mystic Outdoor Art Festival and selling BSA Popcorn, where the scouts can earn money which is applied to their individual scout account which can be used to pay for summer camp, campouts throughout the year and other scout-related expenses. Troop 76 also hosts a breakfast with Santa at Applebee's and host Pack 37's Blue and Gold Banquet which raise funds for the Troop to be used for programming and equipment.

New scouts are always welcome throughout the year!
